We run two courses at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, off the A3 near Petersfield, Hampshire  -  Our Core Skills Course and our Advanced Skills Course.

The location is perfect mountain bike terrain, offering all types of riding challenges, from technical climbs to fast downhill runs. Both courses cover bike set up and mechanical tips ranging from simple things, like correct saddle height and handle bar position, to more in-depth instruction covering things like suspension set up and tyre pressures - all designed to help boost your confidence and improve your performance when out on the trail.

Making sure you acquire the correct riding position is the key to improving your mountain bike skill levels.  An incorrect riding position can cause many problems, from back ache to a trip over the handlebars on a downhill section. The courses include advice on the best riding positions for different terrains.

Line selection plays a massive part in top performance trail riding. The wrong line choice can instantly cause loss of speed and flow. Whether it’s selecting a line through a fast rock garden or just picking your way up a technical climb, with our tips and advice you will find your ride a lot easier and a whole lot more enjoyable.

Linked to line choice is adapting your technique to the trail. For example, if it’s a wet day you wouldn’t want it to pass through a bunch of wet muddy roots. Weather conditions, type of ground and trail difficulty are also things that have to be factored into how you attack a trail.

Balance and jumping techniques are also very important skills to acquire and perfect. All of these factors are covered in both courses.

Core Skills Course – Designed for relatively new comers to mountain bike riding who have the confidence and fitness levels required but lack certain skills needed to manoeuvre over and around obstacles.

Advanced Skills Course – Designed for the proficient mountain bike rider who wants to move to the next level and improve their flow and speed across obstacles on challenging trails. You will be expected to be able to perform both powered and unpowered lifts and rolling drop offs up to 50cm.

Training Team – Whichever course you choose, your course trainer will be Chris Doney. Chris is one of the world’s leading freestyle mountain bike trials riders with British, European and World titles to his name. He founded the stunt team Zero Gravity back in 2006 and has appeared at numerous shows in the UK, regularly rides at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and was a member of the BBC Top Gear World Tour stunt team, which toured Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Holland and Ireland.
